Students of Gymnasium Meiendorf at RIMUN or:
The impossibility of being punctual
On March 25th the long- awaited day finally arrived: 15 students and 2 teachers waited at Hamburg Airport for their flight to the Eternal City of Rome. Although we were really excited and couldn't wait to start we also knew that the next week would be very tough and we couldn't expect any sleep or punctuality.
And the Italians didn't disappoint us: At the Airport in Rome we had to wait for more than half an hour for our baggage. And so we were more than one hour late at the school 'Liceo Farnesina' and all our Host families were gone because they hadn’t wanted to wait for us.

After this chaotic start we had a little City Tour the next day which was very interesting and a good opening for the upcoming week. We visited all the important sights: Starting with the Colosseum to the Roman Forum and ending with the Vatican. Although our feet were hurting we were still looking forward to the Opening Ceremony in the City Hall the next day.
Not very surprisingly, the Opening Ceremony began late again. Nevertheless we were really excited since we were Ambassadors and we had to speak in front of more than 400 people!

After the Ceremony we had another City Tour together with our Italian guide Matteo. He showed us many places and gave us a lot of information.
But the real Conference started on Saturday (do we really have to mention that we started late???): Lobbying which means merging into groups and working on the resolutions was the first thing to do. And so we began to work: collecting information, writing Operative Clauses, convincing other delegates and asking them for their signature.

And the next day we really made it: Our resolution passed the Approval Panel (but of course other's resolutions passed, too) and in the evening we started to debate. But the next day was the more important one: Our resolution was discussed and although we had to fight — it eventually passed!
On the last day there was the General Assembly: And like every day we started almost one hour late. We were all very tired and couldn't wait for the Closing Ceremony, but there were still more than 7 hours to go. And after many discussed resolutions the final part arrived: The Closing Ceremony. Every Chair was allowed to deliver a speech and every other important person too, of course.

And after the Closing Ceremony all delegates left the room yawning and half- asleep.
After a week of working and debating we left Rome again, but we can't wait for next year to meet all people again. Arrividerci ed a presto!
